With teams like DCC, it is very hard to determine which 14 wrestlers will be sent, so if some wrestlers are not here and others are in, I can’t control what the coaching staff decides is their best 14 guys to send. The weight to watch here is 150. With 5 ranked wrestlers, 3 in the top 10, Someone tough is getting left behind early.

Overall, this district has solid weights up to down. It looks as though no weight has more than 4 ranked wrestlers, however, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of separation in skill, so expect some minor upsets across the board. The highest ranked match-up could happen at 157 where #4 and #5 could cross paths.

Our weight to watch here will be 190. #3, #5, and #9 are all on the bracket, Badgley is the only state-placer of the group, but both Lee and O’Neil were SQ last year and won’t back down. Another district with many chances for upsets as not many weights have clear favorites.

Nothing against the young men competing at this district, but it is one of the more “watered down” tournaments this weekend. While there aren’t a lot of ranked wrestlers in the field, that doesn’t take away the opportunity for the Cinderella Story we all hope to see. 165 and 157 have 3 ranked wrestlers, all outside the top 3. This could lead to some tough draws for the other district that these guys pair up with.

The Dundee Dilemma. Not only does Dundee have more than 14 options to send, some weights have more than 2 ranked wrestlers (ex. 113). Dundee has to decide which 4 out of the 18 ranked wrestlers have to sit out. Do you have seniors sit out, which 113 pounders get entered? Does on of them go up in weight? Which is even harder since there are 2 ranked guys for Dundee at 120... Does the odd man out at 113 go 126? Let’s find out, I guess. There is a chance for a lot of 1 vs. 2 or 2 vs. 3 but those matches happen in practice too, it seems. I think we may see some forfeits in the finals because team mates have already duked it out in practice.

This district is loaded with great match-ups. There are a few weights to keep an eye on as some recent results have really mixed things up. At 106 we have 3 ranked wrestlers, but Blissfield’s Jude Rosas has marked some wins over Arntz. Next is 113 with 4 ranked wrestlers, Mosher has pinned and teched Taylor in their past two meetings. 126 has Long taking on Rothman, who has put together a solid end to the season with a win over Kade Kluce and some close competitive matches against Long and D4 #1 Julien Kimling. 138 has Ames and Leonard who have gone 1-1 in the past few weeks, Ames winning 9-8 most recently. 165 will likely preview the State Finals as Randolph and Schofield will likely meet in the finals for the next few weeks. Schofield defeated Randolph earlier this year in a highly competitive match. 190 and 215 will see 4 ranked wrestlers, all right next to each other. This district will have a couple weights that will likely see 3 (or all four) wresters make the podium this year. 285 will see 3 ranked guys, Rafferty and Russell have wrestled 3 times in the past 30 days and Russell leads the series 2-1 but Rafferty has the last win.

Hudson brings a large contingency of ranked wrestlers to add to a solid field. Quite a few weights have multiple ranked wrestlers, but the focus will likely be at 126 where the favorite is Kimling, but 4 other wrestlers all within the top 10 are going to fight for the chance to continue. Both 132 and 157 have 4 ranked guys leading making the regional draws tough.

This district will have most the attention on the lower weights. 106 and 113 have a slew of guys all looking to be in the race for a state title in March. 106 has the favorite, Zambon, looking to stay on top while two other guys within the top 5 will look to dethrone him early. 113 has four ranked guys and 132 has 3 other ranked guys.
