Lenawee County All-Star Meet January 26, 2024 at the Merillat Center at ​Adrian College, Wrestling Starts at 5 pm.

Tonight (Friday, 1/26/24), the Lenawee County All-Star Invitational takes place and Machine Shed Wrestling is going to be well ​represented. A full run-down can be found at LenConnect.com, but I’m going to focus on any wrestler that has trained out at The ​Shed. There are 15 wrestlers in the brackets and 2 wrestlers as alternatives.

At 106, Jaxton Kimling (Fr. Hudson) is an alternate.

Malaki Mosher (Jr. Adrian-Madison) and Chase Clark (Fr. Hudson) are on the bracket at 113.

120 will have a first round match-up between two MSW guys, Nick Sorrow (So. Hudson) will take on Wyatt Andrews (Jr. ​Tecumseh).

126 is loaded with Machine Shed Wrestlers; Julien Kimling (Jr. Hudson), Gage Rothman (Fr. Blissfield), and Braylon Long (Jr. ​Clinton) will do battle tonight.

132 is represented by Connor Younts (Sr. Clinton).

At the Women’s 125/135 weight class, Faith Blackburn (Sr. Clinton) is ready for war.

Maurice Ames (Sr. Clinton) is the only representative at 138, and he will face some familiar foes.

144 will also have some MSW wrestlers meeting in the first round. Coy Perry (Sr. Hudson) will take on Dylan Badge (Sr. Clinton).

We jump to 175 where Cruz Tores (Fr. Tecumseh) and Joe Clark (Sr. Addison) are on the bracket. John Breckel (So. Adrian) is out ​sick.

Finally, we make the leap to Heavyweight, where Logan Russell (Jr. Adrian-Madison) will look to take the title.

Play-By-Play

First up is women’s 100/105, Aubree McClain and Layla Smith start things off on mat 1. Mat 2 will have Jude ​Rosas and Micah Baker.

Baker scores first on Rosas, Layla Smith is in on a shot. No Score for Smith. Baker is controlling a wing.

Takedown on Mat 1 for Smith. Escape McClain, and a takedown for smith. Reversal at the buzzer for Rosas on ​Mat 2. Baker chooses down in the second. McClain chooses down too. Rosas looks to lock a cradle. Escape for ​McClain on 1. Reversal Baker, he leads 4-2. Takedown McClain, and nearfall for Baker. McClain with the Fall.

Mat 1 Jacob Byrd vs Nate Arntz. Rosas choses down i the 3rd on 2. Baker with a wing, Rosas with a reversal. ​Baker leads still. Byrd in deep finishes a shot, INJURY TIME. Nate looks hurt. rosas scores a takedown, closing ​the gap. baker in on a shot. Baker with the upset. Arntz is sitting up. Malaki Mosher vs. Wyatt Fox on 2. Arntz is ​up, but down, Byrd wins. Chase Clark will take on Diego Orozco, Mosher and Fox are handfighting with lots of ​shots. Fox has a leg in the air, takedown Fox. Clark with a short dump, Diego controls the front headlock and ​scores. Blood Diego. Fox is putting on a sloid ride. Second period, Mosher defers, Fox chooses neutral. Nice ​firemans to a takedown by Mosher. Escape Fox, Shot to a takedown by Mosher, Clark chooses bottom in the ​2nd

Mosher finishes the 2nd on top, Clark was bleeding a little on Mat 1. Mosher scores a takedown in the third. ​Clark gets his escape, Orozco takes injury. Mosher hit with stalling Fox gets an escape. Mosher shoots, wins a ​close one against Fox. Sorrow and Andrews up now. Clark and Orozco still battling back and forth. Sorrow ​scores a couple of quick TDs. Clark is on top for the third. Sorrow racking up takedowns, but andrews almost ​locks up a headlock. Sorrow throws in a deep half for some nearfall. Clark riding, also bleeding. Sorrow wins via ​cradle. Kimling and potts up now on 2. Dump by Kimling, out of bounds. Orozco wins in a slugfest with Clark.

Kimling has a cradle, splade/funk situation. Lucas Dopp and Espinoza-Rojo are at it on 1. Lots of shots by IER, ​good defense by Dopp. Kimling is suffaocating on top. Potts chooses neutral. Kimling scores again. Kimling has ​a wing, IER and Dopp scoreless after one, IER chooses down. Kimling with a cradle, nothing though. Kimling ​chooses neutral, Potts gets a takedown. Kimling looking for a reversal. Kimling gets his reversal and locks a ​cradle, getting nearfall. IER with a takedown on the edge, Dopp is hurting, needs some injury time. Carlee ​Bakewell takes on Sabree Bonsell, Bonsell gets a takedown and 2 nearfall. Bonsell throws Bakewell to her back, ​nearfall no fall. Dopp drops out from Injury. Rothman and Long are up on 1. Two MSW guys going head to head.

Bakewell with a headlock, Bonsell on her back. Fall for Bakewell. Rothman and Long are scoreless, lots of ​action, no finishes. Stalling Long. Younts is out against Landon Mohr. Long scores a takedwon to 2 nearfall. ​Long defers, Gage chooses down. Younts gets a quick takedown. Escape Mohr, another quick takedown once ​the get to the center. Long draws a stalling on Rothman from top. Younts cuts and works for a third takedown. ​Inside reach, transition to a double, takedown on the edge.

Gage gets an escape at the last second. Younts continues his barrage of leg attacks. This time chasing down a ​single. Long chooses down in the third. Younts hits a cross arm tilt. Rothman is looking for neafall, but Long ​fights off his back, no points. Had a bundle, but lost it. Escape Long, Rothman fires off an attack, Long counters. ​, escape Rothman, headlock, takedown. Gage cuts him. I’ve lost track of the score, but its close. Younts ​dominates on his way to a W. Cole Marry and Joey Denkins are battling it out Marry secures a takedown. ​Rothman drives hard, Long counters with a firemans. Great Match by two studs. Long wins in a great battle.

Loop and Trevino up on 1. Denkins goes for a throw but can’t secure it. Loop scores a takedown, Trevino takes ​injury. Marry throws a russian tie by for 2. Looks like an ankle injury, but hes good. reversal for Trevino followed ​by a Loop reversal. Marry wins. I got chatting with some people in the stands (always great to talk wrestling).

Dylan Badge and Coy Perry square off on Mat 2 now. Shot by Perry, Badge shows off his scrambling skills, but ​Perry still finishes on top. Trevino starts the third on top. Badge rolling all around. Loop scores at the buzzer. ​Loop chooses down. Reversal Loop. Coy riding on top, Badge looks for a reversal, but I see a stale mate.

Loop scores another takedown, but Trevino escapes, Trevino holds out for a win! Maurice takes on Lukas ​Leonard (Mo is ranked #3 in d3 138, Lukas is #6. Blast double by Mo, out of bounds. Badge on top riding Coy for ​the third. TD Mo, escape Leonard. Over Under for Mo and Lukas, nothing. Another shot out of bounds by Ames.

Perry wins a slower one over Badge, Mo got caught in a side cradle at the end, but time expired. Escape Ames. ​Xavier Rodriguez takes on Teagan Cunningham on 2. Ames scores out of a funk shot situation. Cunningham ​strikes first. Ames rides out, Leonard choose down. Xavier looks for a reversal at the buzzer and gets it. Leonard ​gets a reversal. Injury Xavier. Mo gives up nearfall and gets bundled, pinned. Login off for a minute, gotta talk ​with some of my guys. Alright, i’m back. Missed a little bit of wrestling.... On to the Finals

Back for the finals, a fall for Arayah Tindall of Adrian Madison in the opening finals bout. Micah Baker of Adrian ​takes on Jacob Byrd of Adrian-Madison, both knotched upset wins to reach the finals. Micah comes out ​explosive and while bodies fly, no points were scored, takedown for Byrd, reversal for Baker, Cradle to a pin. ​The Fourth seed comes out on top. Onto the 113, Malaki Mosher scores of some funk rolls, no nearfall. Blood ​time Orozco. Escape for Diego, nice recovery off of Mosher’s mat return. Malaki goes for an underhook throw ​by, Orozco counters to a single, out-of-bounds. Last second takedown for Malaki, Adrian corner strongly ​disagrees. He chooses down in the 2nd. Escape Masher. On Mat 2, Chase Clark leads 1-0. Stalling Malaki, still ​neutral. Chase Clark records a fall over Wyatt Fox. Orozco tries to throw, Malaki counters for a takedown. ​Orozco chooses down, Mosher rides tough in a claw ride. Escape Orozco. Takedown Malaki, converts off a ​single leg. Orozco escapes, down 9-3. Malaki goes for a low shot, splits the middle, final score 11-3 after a final ​takedown. Now for 120. Sorrow takes on Iverson Espinoza-Rojo. IER scored a solid upset over Dopp in the ​earlier round. Sorrow starts off with an insane pace. Takedown Sorrow. Wyatt Andrews wins by injury default ​for 3rd. Sorrow has IER on his back, scores his 3 NF and moves to the next one. IER takes down.

Sorrow scores some nearfall of a nasty chicken wing. 13-0, now blood time for IER. Cradle from Sorrow, looking ​for the fall, knees in the way though. Time expires, tech fall. At 126, two MSW Wrestlers meet, as Julien Kimling ​takes on Braylon Long. Rothman takes on Potts on Mat 2. Rothman puts Potts to his back in a mean looking ​headlock. Kimlng and Long are scoreless. Lots of handfighting, but very little action in Kimling/Long. Long ​chooses down. Kimling gets hit with stalling, Long is exploding to his feet, but not getting his 1. Rothman scores ​a fall for 3rd. Escape for Long after just about 1 minute. Julien takes bottom in the 3rd. Down to a minute, ​Braylon is still on top, controlling wrists. 40 left, Kimling gets to his feet, Long hit for stalling. 16 seconds left. ​Reversal in the final seconds for Kimling. He takes this battle 2-1. Great job by these young men, both will find ​great success in the post-season. Switching back over to the women’s division. Faith Blackburn takes on Carlee ​Bakewell. Bakewell throws Blackburn to her back, but she rolls through with the tightest chin whip of the night. ​Fall for Faith! Connor Younts looks to cap his Lenawee Career off on top. Tonight he takes on Cameron Trevino. ​Quick short dump by Younts. Punches a chicken wing, transitions to a bundle. Trevino fights it off, Connor cuts ​him. Takedown, Cut,. Swing single for a takedown, followed by an attempted cheap tilt, no nearfall though. Last ​second takedown to go up 8-3 for Younts. Trevino goes down to start the second. Connor cuts him, takes him ​down, cuts him, takes him down again. Falls into a leg lace position, but got hit for stalling because he had the ​leg hook. Gets a chicken wing, moves to a cross face. Cuts Trevino again. Another takedown on the edge for ​YOunts. 14-6 right now. Younts chooses down in the third. Reversal for Younts, transitions to nearfall, ​potentially dangerous called for the angle the knee was at. 1 escape, 2 takedown, 1 escape, 2 takedown and ​thats the tech for Connor Younts.

Lukas Leonard and Cole Marry face of in the 138 finals, while Maurice Ames wrestles for 3rd on Mat 2. Shot by ​Leonard defended by Marry. Maurice looks for a fall on Mat 2, pin for Maurice. Meanwhile Leanord tosses Marry ​to his back. Leonard up 5-0 going into the second. The second starts neutral and Cole scores a quick takedown ​and has a cradle locked up. Wing and a cross wrist for Marry, looking to turn Leonard, but not converting. 5-2 ​going into the 3rd. Marry goes down. Reversal for Marry as Leonard tries to chase him down and prevent the ​escape. Reversal is called off and an escape is given. Marry scores on the edge. 5-5, Marry cuts Leonard. 6-5, ​Marry scores a takedown, leads 7-6. Cole Marry holds on for the win.
