Coach George Ames III

Coach Ames has been an integral part to the success of Lenawee County Wrestling. Through his work as the Clinton Middle School Head Coach and as a coach with The Wrecking Crew, Coach Ames has helped mold some of the nation’s toughest wrestlers.

As the 2019 Youth/Middle School Coach of the Year, Coach Ames looks to bring his extensive knowledge to the Machine Shed to continue to build the next generation of elite wrestlers.

Coach Payne Hayden

Coach Payne was a four time state placer for Stevensville-Lakeshore (3rd -Fr. 135) and St. Johns High School ( 3rd - So. 140, 2nd - Jr. 215, 1st - Sr. 189). He was the 2013 Junior Pan American Games Freestyle Champion at 84 kg and runner-up in the Greco-Roman portion of the tournament. He has also placed at prestigious national tournaments like Super 32, Freestyle and Greco Nationals in Fargo, ND, U2o and U17 Nationals, etc. He went on to compete for the University of Michigan at 197 lbs. and Hwt.

Coach Payne has had the opportunity to train under some of the best coaching staff the State of Michigan has to offer. He looks to use these experiences to educate and train these young men and women into becoming the best they can be.
